The Mother Statue
A lot of the game can be interpreted in different ways, but the statue that Gris meets at certain places on her journey is one of the most clear things about it. You can find smaller versions of the figure in different parts of the game, but only one of them feels like a monument.
Even though there are no words on the figure, it is clear that it shows someone close to Gris. It starts out in bad shape and slowly gets better as the trip goes on. It has the mystery and beauty of old ruins or shrines that have lost their luster.
The Tower Tree
Gris’s adventure is so big that it takes her to what looks like the edge of space as she discovers a floating world in the night sky. All the places in this area have a beautiful glow, which makes the whole place beautiful in many ways.
There is one part, though, that stands out from the rest. You can climb a tower that gets smaller as you get closer to the top and has a tree with branches that end in square baskets of leaves. It’s open enough that you can see the sky through it, and it makes you feel like you’re not linked to anything below.
The Cubic Forest
In most games, one of the first places you go is a forest. There are a lot of reasons for this, but one is that the forest is the most peaceful and tamed area. Once Gris figures out where she is, she can find her way to a forest with cube trees and shy animals.
Most of the area is filled with light from the trees, which range from being small and delicate to big and strong. The area as a whole is beautiful and fits together in a way that makes you want to stay as long as you want.
The Underwater Cavern
Gris will go into a number of caves when she wants to get to the sadder parts of her mind. The water in these tubes is clear and still, so it’s hard to tell what’s down there. You can find ruins that are dark and have probably never seen the light of day.
Even though it might feel cold here, there is a cave where a beam of light has broken through the stone. It shines a light into an open cavern with still water and calm colors. It’s a bright and beautiful island in the middle of a deep and dark place.
The Floating Ruins
The Floating Ruins are an early place in a desert that Gris has to deal with. There is a lot of red sand and strong wind. So she needs to plan her steps carefully so she doesn’t get blown away. She starts by moving between ruins on the ground, but she quickly moves to higher floors. After she does this, she will be able to move between floating islands. Some of which still have whole buildings on them.
Even though floating islands are a common plot device in fiction, they can still be very good. Even though the desert is a harsh place, these floating pieces are a beautiful and strange sight.
The Sun Bridge
Gris will have to cross a bridge to get to new places from the main area. So she can keep going on her trip. Depending on where she’s going, the setting of the bridge she crosses will be different, which will make her feel different. Even though they are all beautiful in their own ways. There is something special about the bridge against the setting Sun.
You decide if this is a sunset or a morning, because time moves in an odd way in this world. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a beautiful bridge that everyone must cross at some point in their lives, both physically and emotionally.
The Central Temple
Even though there are no words in Gris, the story is told through the beautiful images. Still, it’s a platforming game, and it uses the standard method of having a central area that the character will return to multiple times. The first time, you have to build this huge, amazing palace so you can get to the other parts of Basket Random game.
Every time you go back to it, the temple will be different. Generally showing what stage of your journey you are in. The wet state might be one of the most beautiful of all the states. Even though it makes you feel sad, it also gives you time to relax and think. Which are important for growth and acceptance.
